As you might have noticed, the actual Raspberry Pi is not inside, since its code is still in development. However, the battery (bottom) and the camera (above battery) are both in their permanent positions in the case. Where the battery sits will be the bottom end of the whole apparatus, since the battery is the heaviest component by far.

At the top, you can see the charge controller, which connects the battery and solar panel to the Pi system. The current challenge is fitting in both the charge controller and the Pi in a way that both can be accessed easily.

Case next to solar panel

Here is the solar panel which we will use to power the entire system. Despite its small size, it will supply plenty of power to the battery so that the Pi can operate remotely. The plan is for both the case and the panel to be mounted in a high place, like a telephone pole, and then be left to their own devices (no pun intended). With the help of the solar panel, this system will be essentially self-sufficient.

The case has been assembled, for the most part.
